The data dashboards are currently being revised and may or may not be available. The IR Office is working hard to ensure the dashboards are all updated and ready to use in the fall quarter.
The Tableau data dashboards can be accessed on the IR SharePoint page, which requires login with your RTC credentials. If you have not completed the dashboard training course (see below), then you will only have access to the Public View Dashboards section.
For help with data definitions of variables used in the dashboards, refer to the RTC Data Dictionary.
If you would like to request a custom data dashboard, please complete the IR Data Request Form. Please keep in mind that turn-around times for custom dashboards are longer than those for standard data requests.
The IR Office has developed an online version of our data dashboard training.
The course is available here in Canvas: Dashboard Training Course
How it works:
Step 1: Take the online training course at your own pace, anytime you want!
Step 2: Take the quiz (the link is available at the end of the training).
Step 3: If you passed the quiz, the IR Office will send you a user agreement form to sign. If you do not pass, you can take the quiz again until you do.
Step 4: The IR Office will grant you access to the restricted use dashboards on SharePoint once the signed form is received. SharePoint Dashboard Page (login with RTC credentials)
With dashboard access, you can find:
- Course success rates by instructor;
- Annual enrollment demographics for RTC;
- Total completions;
- Retention and completion rates for career training programs;
- Job placement and wage data;
- Basic Studies’ transition data, and more!
The IR Office uses data files provided by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC), referred to as the Data Warehouse tables, for the majority of its data analysis. These files are based on 10th day enrollment data that we report to the SBCTC each quarter. These files are considered to be finalized and official data for the college, reported in a consistent way from quarter to quarter and year to year. As these data files are created in a consistent manner over time, we can gain a better understanding of our data trends by utilizing this data source.
However, there are occasions when the IR Office will need to utilize data that links directly to the Student Management System (SMS). This data source is called the Operational Data Store (ODS). For example, some local fields such as First Generation status are not included in the tables provided by the SBCTC. Furthermore, since the SBCTC does not release quarterly data files until after the end of each quarter, when data is needed urgently for the current or most recent quarter and not available in the Data Warehouse, we may have to utilize ODS tables. It is important to understand that data coming from the ODS and the Data Warehouse may not match, as the ODS source data changes over the quarter, while the Data Warehouse is a snapshot of data at one point in time in the quarter. The data dashboards contained on this page utilize the Data Warehouse tables, unless otherwise specified.
