New Aerospace & Industrial Technologies program prepares students for success in high tech

Renton, Wash. - Renton Technical College (RTC) is now offering a new program designed to prepare the next generation of skilled industrial technicians.

The new Aerospace & Industrial Production Technologies program is a certificate or associate degree program that trains students in the latest technologies and manufacturing processes for producing precise parts and equipment.

This new program replaces RTC’s older Aerospace Manufacturing program. The changes make the training more applicable to all precision manufacturing operations, including aerospace industries. Graduates of the program will be prepared for jobs such as manufacturing production technicians, assembly technicians or aircraft and industrial skilled workers. Workers in these fields earn a national median wage of about $60,000 (https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/17-3029.09).

Students will gain theory and experience in cutting edge technologies such as 3-D printing, metrology (the use of lasers for precise measurements of spaces and parts), and photogrammetry (the use of photos to measure distances). They will also learn valuable skills such as blueprint reading, machining and tooling, rivet installation, protective coatings, and the properties of metals.

The program is accepting students for spring quarter. Registration begins Feb. 21.
