Renton Technical College to Offer Bachelor’s Degrees Next Year

RENTON, Wash. – Renton Technical College (RTC) will offer its first bachelor’s degree program option in winter 2015. Students will be able to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Application Development.
After a rigorous and competitive application process, last September RTC was awarded $98,326 to develop an applied baccalaureate degree in a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) area. The State Board of Community and Technical Colleges granted final approval to this degree at their regular meeting on June 19.

On Wednesday, January 28, 2015 and February 4, 2015 at 2:30pm the Financial Aid Office will provide assistance to students to apply for financial aid.
Who Should Attend: Any student who plans to attend college in the 2015-16 year beginning summer quarter and think they need financial assistance. This includes students who are eligible for the Washington State Need Grant under the Real Hope Act sometimes called the Dreamers Grant.
RTC Foundation Receives a $20,000 Grant

Last fall, Seattle Foundation donors participated in a GiveTogether Cycle, identifying Success in Higher Education as their grant making focus. As research shows that college completion remains an elusive goal for many King County low-income and minority students, and given that two-thirds of jobs in our region will require a college degree or career credential by 2018, we know, as do these donors, that these equity challenges posed are critical.

Renton Technical College Recertified as an Achieving the Dream Leader College

RENTON, Wash. — Renton Technical College (RTC) today was recertified as an Achieving the Dream Leader College – a national designation awarded to community colleges that commit to improving student success and closing achievement gaps. Only 16 colleges in the nation received this honor. Achieving the Dream, Inc. is a national nonprofit that is dedicated to helping community college students, particularly low-income students and students of color, stay in school and earn a college certificate or degree.
