Renton Technical College Announces Appointment of Debra Entenman to Board of Trustees

RENTON, Wash. – Today, Renton Technical College announced the appointment of Debra Entenman to the Board of Trustees. Entenman currently serves as the Deputy District Director of the 47th Legislative District for the Office of Congressman Adam Smith.

RTC Announces 2015 Commencement Ceremonies

New Rankings Rate Renton Technical College Near Top On Value-Added Scale

WASHINGTON, D.C. — New data and analysis of two- and four-year schools released recently by the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program provides fresh insight into how well colleges prepare students for high-paying careers. Renton Technical College ranked 13 in value added in the Brookings “Beyond College Rankings” assessment, the highest rated institution in the State of Washington.

Renton Technical College's Scholarship Breakfast Raises More Than $30,000

RENTON, Wash. – The RTC Foundation Scholarship Breakfast raised more than $30,000. It is the highest grossing scholarship breakfast to date.

More than 180 people gathered on RTC’s campus last week with Angela Russell, former KIRO TV news anchor. Attendees heard moving testimonials from student and alumni speakers sharing the impact RTC has made on their lives.

RTC Board Announces Dr. Kevin D. McCarthy as Next President, Assumes Helm July 1

RENTON, Wash.  - The Board of Trustees of Renton Technical College announced today it has concluded its national search. Dr. Kevin D. McCarthy will assume the helm as president of the institution on July 1, 2015. He becomes just the fourth president of the technical college since its founding in 1941. The Board of Trustees made the announcement earlier today during a public meeting. President Steve Hanson will retire at the end of June.

RTC Accounting Students Assist Local Residents With Income Tax Preparation

Accounting students at Renton Technical College used their time this year between February and April to assist residents in the area with completion of required annual filings as part of the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Grant Program. “The IRS provides us with training, reference materials and tax preparation software. In exchange we provide income tax preparation and assistance for qualifying taxpayers. This is a win-win for all the participants.

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society elects RTC's Joe Spieldenner as Vice President

RTC's Joe Spieldenner was elected Vice President, Division IV by the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society on April 18. Spieldenner joins a team of four other new officers including Yanik Etan, International President, College of Central Florida, Amie Bernstein, Vice President, Division I, Suffolk County Community College, New York, Elizabeth Taylor, Vice President, Division II, Grayson College, Texas and Hayley Younce, Vice President, Division III, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Michigan.
