How to Become an Apprentice

Getting started with AJAC:

  1. Employer Partnership – AJAC works with manufacturing employers who enroll their employees into our apprenticeship programs. If your company isn’t partnered yet, we can help them sign up.
  2. College-Level Classes – Apprentices take one evening class per week (four hours) at a local college or online, earning college credits along the way.
  3. Full-Time, Paid Work & Mentorship – Apprentices work full-time while gaining valuable on-the-job training with mentorship from industry professionals. Plus, your wages increase as you progress.
  4. Earn Your Journey-Level Certification – Once you’ve met your required on-the-job training hours and completed your coursework, you’ll receive a journey-level certificate from the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries—a credential that opens doors to endless career opportunities.
