The Opportunity Grant (OG) program helps eligible low-income students earn a short-term certificate or complete up to 45 college credits in a high-wage, high-demand career pathway.
The program provides financial assistance and support services to help students complete their education and prepare for employment.
Qualified students must enroll in an approved Opporunity Grant training program. Funding is limited and not guaranteed. Eligible applications may be placed on a waiting list until funds are available. The Opportunity Grant cannot cover any unrelated prerequisite courses or direct transfer degrees (DTAs).

Assistance
Eligible students may receive:
- Tuition assistance for up to 45 college credits
- Funding for books and fees up to $1,000 per academic year
- Tutoring services
- Career planning
- Access to essential basic needs resources, including food navigation and other support services
Aid is available for non-citizen students.
Qualifications
You may qualify for the Opportunity Grant if:
- Have been a Washington State resident for at least 12 months.
- Meet the current low-income eligibility requirements, with a family income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (see the table below).
- Enroll in an Opportunity Grant-approved career pathway.
- Complete the Opportunity Grant application.
- Do not have a bachelor's degree or higher
To Remain Eligible
To continue receiving Opportunity Grant funding, you must:
- Submit a FAFSA or WASFA by the second quarter and demonstrate financial need. WASFA is available for eligible non-citizen students.
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA
- Renew your Opportunity Grant application each quarter
- Verify your family income each academic year
- Remain enrolled and make satisfactory progress toward completing your program

How to Apply
New or returning students:
- Meet with an Entry Adviser to explore programs and get started.
- Apply for RTC admissions.
- Complete the FAFSA or WASFA (if applicable).
- Complete placement testing (if required).
- Complete the Workforce Education Financial Aid application.
- Meet with the Opportunity Grant Application Coordinator for assistance with the online application, if needed.
- Register for classes
Current students:
