Resources for Finding Grants

There are many great resources to help identify funding for potential projects. The Director of Grants can assist in this process. In addition to working with the Director of Grants in locating applicable funding, faculty and staff are encouraged to do their own prospect research. Below is a list of popular websites that can assist in this process.

Federal Grants

www.grants.gov is the federal government’s central repository of grants offered at any given time. It is searchable by category (e.g. Education; Employment, Labor and Training), by eligibility (public and state-controlled institutions of higher education), by agency or by keyword. It provides links to a synopsis of the grant opportunity as well as the full announcement and application package. 

Note: RTC is registered and eligible to apply for grants through grants.gov, but application submission must go through the Authorized Organizational Representative only. The Director of Grants will process all submissions.

Federal departmental websites also list grant opportunities. Below are a few of the most relevant federal sources.

State and Local Grants

The State Board of Community and Technical Colleges lists grants available to the Community and Technical College community. The Director of Grants submits these applications through the Online Grants Management System (OGMS). Please meet with the Director of Grants if you have questions about OGMS or any SBCTC-funded grants or allocations.

Other Sources

Philanthropy News Digest offers a free listing of Requests for Proposals from many national and local public foundations and trusts. 

Grantmakers posts information about IRS-registered nonprofit organizations and the grants they have reported.  This can be useful in identifying potential funders and/or understanding their priorities.

Demco offers a free database of grants specific to libraries and educational organizations.
