Here are a few favorite success stories that reflect the remarkable students you support through your gifts.

Devin Woods – Honors student and recipient of the Steve Hanson Student Leadership Scholarship

Devin served as a student leader throughout his time on campus, working alongside the academic advisors in the Student Success Center. Known for his kindness and welcoming smile, he spent many hours in the advising office helping students feel comfortable and welcome.  A leader in the classroom as a peer tutor, Devin is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and graduated with a 4.0 GPA from the RTC Computer Science Program. He plans to continue his education to earn a bachelor’s degree, but first, steps in to an internship with a local company to gain hands-on experience as a software engineer. The sky’s the limit for Devin!

Barry Green – Recipient of the Steve Hanson Student Leadership Scholarship, Watt Family Aerospace Diversity Scholarship, Vern Gambriell Scholarship

Barry served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps before attending Renton Technical College. In his roles as a student leader, Barry served as a member of the RTC Associated Student Government, Phi Theta Kappa, the Student Veterans Club and the Engineering Design Technology Club. This past year, Barry was a founding member of the RTC Men of Merit, a program created to foster brotherhood and connection between men of color on campus. He is an Engineering Design Technology graduate and has already stepped in to a full-time position as an engineering assistant for Puget Sound Energy. Barry isn’t done with his academic pursuits yet, and plans undergraduate studies in business. Thank you for your service, Barry, and for your exceptional leadership!

“If your mom can do it, you can do it too!”
~ Nataly Ramos’ message to her four children

Nataly is a graduate of the RTC Accounting Program and new member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Beloved by her fellow students as a role model and admired as an exceptional student by her instructors, Nataly’s journey is all about what is possible at any age or stage in life.

When Nataly completed her GED in 2014 at RTC, she knew then her goal was to return and continue her education. As a wife and mother of four children, life was busy and full. But with a strong work ethic and the encouragement of her teachers who made her feel welcome and eager to be on campus every day, Nataly finished her degree with honors. Her future plans are to earn her bachelor’s degree and become a certified public accountant. She will carry with her favorite memories of studying together with RTC classmates from all over the world, and the proud moment of sharing graduation with her husband Moises and their four children. We share in your family’s pride. Congratulations Nataly!
