Drop-for-No-Show (DRNS)
What is Drop-for-No-Show (DRNS)?
It is a process where instructors for college-level courses identify and report students who have not attended and/or logged into class at all.
Reported students are considered a no-show and then dropped from the course(s) as a courtesy so that charges are not incurred by the student for the reported course(s). A notification may be sent to impacted students to their ctcLink preferred email address.
Important to Know
- It is ultimately the student’s responsibility to drop classes in a timely manner if they do not plan to attend. Do not rely on this DRNS process to be dropped from classes.
- When classes are dropped during the quarter and re-added, it may take up to 24 hours for the Canvas class module to be accessible again.
- Students are responsible for any consequences that may result from dropped class(es), such as impact on financial aid status, impact on degree progress, and remaining tuition balances.
How to Avoid Being DRNS
- Attend and participate in class during the first week of the course.
- If you know in advance that you are unable to attend during the first few days of the course, please contact your instructor to make arrangements.
What to do if you have been dropped as a no-show?
- Between January 8–17, instructor permission is needed.
- To submit in person: Visit the Registration Office in the Student Success Center (Bldg. I) with the instructor's permission and completed Enrollment Form. Hours can be found in the Department Directory.
- To submit online: Forward the instructor’s approval with a completed Enrollment Form to registration@rtc.edu.
- After successfully re-registering, it may take up to 24 hours for the Canvas class module to be accessible again. Contact your instructor to discuss catching up on any missed work.
