Board member Susan Palmer was honored to accept the award on behalf of the board during the Association of Community College Trustees’ Annual Leadership Congress in Las Vegas last week.
“Phi Theta Kappa at RTC helps make student success a reality," Palmer said. “It has been fun and rewarding watching the students and the organization grow to new heights each year."
She thanked Jessica Supinski, director of Student Programs and Engagement, for her invaluable guidance and leadership. It was actually Supinski who made the nomination on behalf of the RTC Phi Theta Kappa chapter, which formally began in 2014.
“Our college’s supportive and affirming board of trustees have been our most consistent advocates in these formative years of developing leadership opportunities and growing our Phi Theta Kappa Chapter,” Supinski said.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year colleges. It recognizes student academic excellence and leadership potential and gives members the opportunity for involvement in leadership, travel, and campus and community service activities.
