High School Completion
HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION
There are several ways you can complete high school here at RTC.
Adult High School+ (HS+) Diploma Program (English & Español)
This is an opportunity for adults ages 18* and over to complete a high school diploma at their local community/technical college. This is a diploma credential recognized by the state of Washington, the same as a diploma awarded from a local high school. Students take a series of classes and are awarded credit upon successful completion to meet their high school graduation requirements- usually between 20-24 credits. This program also combines your current studies with previous learning and life experiences for credit evaluation. For example, previous high school transcripts, work experience and/or certifications, passed GED sections or college classes may all count as credit towards your high school diploma. También tenemos un camino y clases en español para nuestro programa de diploma HS+.
*Students may not be currently enrolled in another school to be eligible. See Youth HS Completion for students 16-21 and/or those currently enrolled elsewhere.
The GED is equivalent to a high school diploma but is different in that your knowledge is measured by a GED exam instead of credits. Like diploma, when completing you are considered a high school graduate, invited to participate in our graduation ceremony and the GED will make you equally eligible for Federal Financial Aid for college enrollment. The GED exam has four sections- English, Math, Science and Social Studies. RTC does not manage the GED tests but provides classes in order to help you pass. If you are interested in taking the tests without enrolling in a program or prep courses, please visit www.ged.com to make an account and schedule your tests. We recommend our testing center as a location.
Youth High School Completion (16-21)
Our Youth High School Completion programs are for students 16-21. These programs are in partnership with K12 and local school districts. Students in the Youth HS Completion programs can graduate with GED, diploma, college credit and/or an associate degree. These programs include both our Technical High School program (similar to Running Start) and youth re-engagement (Open Doors) programs which provide more support and guidance to students struggling at their local high school.
