STATE FINANCIAL AID FOR DREAMERS
On February 26, 2014, Governor Jay Inslee signed into law the REAL Hope Act (SB6523), also known as the Washington Dream Act. This law expands eligibility for the Washington State Need Grant to non-citizens who meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
At Renton Technical College we support all students to pursue their educational goals. The undocumented status of a student exempts them from applying for federal student aid using the FAFSA but this does not have to be a barrier to attending and succeeding in college.
QUALIFICATION AND HOW TO APPLY:
- You must have completed a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent (It doesn't matter if you earned it outside the U.S.!)
- You must have lived in Washington for at least one year prior to your first quarter at Renton Technical College
- Submit a WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) by our priority processing date and list Renton Technical College on your application. Within the WASFA application, you must commit to applying for permanent residency in the United States as soon as you can.
