    • International transcripts  require additional steps

  4. You’ll get a message to your RTC preferred email address when we receive your official transcript (check your preferred email & update your contact information)
  5. Evaluation results are available 4-6 weeks after RTC receives your official transcripts
    • You’ll receive a message to your preferred email when your transfer credit evaluation is complete
    • You can also see your transfer credit report in your student ctcLink account
  6. Meet with your program adviser & check the Academic Progress report in your student ctcLink account to see how your transfer credit will apply toward your certificate or degree
  7. Have a question about how your credit transferred? Please email transcripts@rtc.edu to clarify your credit evaluation with our credential evaluators.

RTC credentials evaluators will review your transcript for transfer credit based on your current program of study, specifically looking at courses that can transfer toward General Education requirements and classes that are listed on the RTC equivalency guides.

Technical/ program specific coursework will require further review and approval for transfer from instructional faculty in the program of study, as they are the experts on course content in that area. Talk with your instructor, adviser or program Dean to have your technical/ program specific coursework evaluated for transfer.

We welcome Veteran students to Renton Technical College! RTC can transfer in military credits that are equivalent to an RTC course. When a direct course equivalent does not exist, elective credit will be awarded when possible. Veteran students must submit official Joint Service transcripts and official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities.

Request Military Training Transcript

  • For service members and veterans of the U.S. Army, NAVY, Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard RTC will need an official Joint Services Transcript (JST)
  • For service members and veterans of the U.S. Air Force, RTC will need an official transcript from Air University (formerly the Community College of the Air Force)
  • For service members who left the military before 1976, the College can evaluate military credit from a notarized DD 214 form

College Success Waiver for Veteran Students

If you have earned at least 45 military quarter credits and/or a combination of 45 military and college level credits, College Success (COL 101) can be waived.

*Please keep in mind, military credits are often awarded as semester credits. Renton Technical College operates on a quarter system. To convert semester credits to quarter credits, simply multiply total semester credits earned by 1.5.

Example: 30 semester credits X 1.5 = 45 Quarter Credits

Credit for Non-Traditional Learning

Students with military training can also pursue credit attainment through other methods of approved prior learning assessment (credit by exam, portfolio, etc.).  Please contact your instructor or program Dean for guidance and further information.

Veteran Services Resources

For additional information and Veteran student resources at RTC, please visit RTC’s Veteran Services page.

Your international college credits may transfer toward your degree or certificate at RTC! To have your credit reviewed for transfer, you’ll first need to order a course-by-course evaluation by an international credential evaluation agency:

  • See a list here of all approved evaluation agencies
  • There is a cost to have your international transcript evaluated by an agency, contact the agency directly to get a quote
  • Most services will require original documents (copies & faxed copies typically will not be certified)

What RTC expects to see in your evaluation:

  • Credits should be in quarter hour or semester hour equivalency
  • All classes included with the American grade equivalency (4.0 system) provided
  • A clear statement of whether this is the same as an US degree (AA, BA/BS) from a regionally or nationally accredited school.

After the evaluation is complete, send an official copy of the evaluation to Renton Technical College, by mail or electronically to transcripts@rtc.edu:
